Job summary

Dallas Mechanical Group LLC is seeking a passionate, detail-oriented entry-level Estimator to join our on-site team. The estimator will collect historical cost data, consult with clients, vendors and internal teams to prepare accurate estimates for HVAC construction, service, and maintenance projects.

You will analyze blueprints, perform takeoffs, prepare scope letters and proposals, and assist project managers with pricing changes while ensuring compliance with codes and standards.

Qualifications

  • Collect historical cost data to estimate costs.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates.
  • Prepare estimates used by management for planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Review contract and bid documents; review and understand scope for project turnover.
  • Attend walk-throughs, pre-bid and scope clarification meetings.
  • Quantitative take-off and computer entry.
  • Prepare scope letters and proposals.
  • Maintain relationships with customers, General Contractors, vendors and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate efforts with the Engineering Department.
  • May review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, and/or availability of materials.
  • Review quotes obtained from subcontractors for accurate scope of work as per plans and specs.
  • Ensure documents are centrally saved in the company’s drive within the confidential estimating folder(s).
  • Assist project managers with takeoffs and pricing changes in work.
  • Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Vice President of Preconstruction with recommendation for resolution.
  • Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.
  • Attend job walks, team meetings, and site visits.

Job Summary

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must have knowledge of the appropriate codes and standards which govern design and operating requirements.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information.
  • Must be organized and able to prioritize tasks.
