Job summary

MSS Solutions, LLC is seeking an Estimator – Mechanical with 5+ years in HVAC and at least 3 years of estimating experience to grow their career contributing fresh and innovative ideas. You will develop bid packages, review subcontractor proposals, read blueprints, perform takeoffs, and collaborate with managers to ensure accurate pricing and on-time project delivery.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years experience (10 years preferred) in the HVAC industry and at least 3 years of estimating experience.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and construction plans and specifications.
• Understand HVAC systems and controls and perform calculations.
• Strong work ethic.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
• Random drug testing required.
• Must pass a background check and drug test.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Will be involved throughout the estimating, bidding, vendor and subcontractor proposal review and purchasing processes.
• Develop detailed quantity take-offs.
• Develop bid packages / contracts for subcontractors, evaluate bids and issue contracts.
• Collect project data and compare to office capabilities.
• Performs new equipment takeoffs.
• Assist Managers and Project Managers with technical support.
• Review project requirements to meet customer facility design and installation needs.
• Develop, evaluate, and discuss solutions with Manager, PM, subcontractor, supplier, and customer.
• Coordinate selection, pricing, and integration of equipment, controls, and services.
• Prepare and review preliminary and final proposals / submittals.
• Assist in proposal pricing and selling strategy.
• Resolve scope deviations with team after validation.
• Help develop project fulfillment schedule with project team.

Estimator – Mechanical

We are seeking an experienced professional to grow their career contributing fresh and innovative ideas.

Role and Responsibilities

• Will be involved throughout the estimating, bidding, vendor and subcontractor proposal review and purchasing processes.
• Ability to develop detailed quantity take-offs.
• Develop bid packages / contract scopes of work for subcontractors, evaluate subcontractor bids and issue contracts.
• Collects project data and compares to the office’s capabilities.
• Performs new equipment takeoffs.
• Assists Managers and Project Managers with technical support.
• Performs construction plan review or other requirements as determined by project needs, constraints, and responsibilities to meet all of the customer’s facility requirements.
• Provides knowledge and consultation in the form of developing facility‑related solutions for the customer’s problems. Determines project needs, constraints, and responsibilities to meet the entire customer’s Building system design and installation requirements.
• Develops, evaluates, and discusses possible solutions with Manager, Project Manager, Sub‑contractor, Supplier, and/or customer.
• Coordinates selection, pricing, and integrates equipment, controls, and services for each project.
• Prepares, finalizes, and reviews preliminary and/or final proposal / submittal complete.
• Helps Manager determine proposal price and selling strategy.
• Resolves major deviations from scope with team after Project Scope Validation.
• Helps Manager develop project fulfillment schedule with project team.
• Prepares and reviews contract terms and conditions using standard contract templates when applicable.
• Works with team members to solicit proper expertise in order to meet customer needs.
• Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years experience (10 years preferred) in the HVAC industry and at least 3 years of estimating experience
• Demonstrated ability to read and understand blueprints and construction plans and specifications.
• Ability to understand HVAC systems and controls and basic HVAC principles, concepts, and perform calculations
• Strong work ethic.
• Proficient with all Microsoft Office related products.
• Regular and supervisory probation period required, if applicable.
• Random drug testing required.
• Must successfully pass a background check & drug test.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
• Physical Demands: Constant sitting, walking short distances, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching above and/or below shoulder, handling/grasping documents or office equipment, clear speaking and adequate hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and respond appropriately in‑person and/or on the telephone, vision sufficient to read source materials and computer screen data, repetitive motions for computer equipment use, lift 25 lbs. occasionally, 5‑10 lbs frequently to lift/carry/move objects, files and documents.

Work Environment

Work is performed in an office environment with air conditioning and bright lights.
