Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks an experienced EHS Lead Professional to lead and continuously improve our environmental, health, and safety programs across our Lewiston facilities. You will partner with leaders to drive regulatory and ISO compliance while promoting a proactive safety culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EH&S, engineering, or equivalent.
• Professional certification such as CSP or CIH.
• Minimum 5 years management experience.
• Subject matter expert in one or more EH&S programs.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 applications.
• Superior organizational skills and high attention to detail.
• Excellent writing, grammar, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and cooperatively within a team.
• Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continuously refine SEL’s EH&S systems and programs to comply with federal, state, and local regulations and SEL requirements; proactively report and respond to new requirements and industry trends.
• Own multiple programs that ensure safety, compliance, and environmental protection; programs serve diverse customer base with broad scope.
• Collaborate with and balance the needs of various stakeholders to understand problems and needs.
• Lead cross functional teams to create company-wide solutions within areas of expertise. Act as subject matter expert, including negotiations with regulatory agencies.
• Respond to job related customer inquiries, questionnaires, surveys, requirements, issues, and any environmental incidents.
• Participate in or lead internal audits and compliance inspections and identifies actions necessary to meet regulatory and ISO 14001 and 45001 standard requirements.
• Perform EH&S review/approval as part of the Management of Change (MOC) process.
• Manage active hazard control and accident prevention programs; facilitate incident investigations through root cause analysis and corrective action solution design or recommendations.
