Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. in Pullman, WA seeks a leadership-focused supervisor to guide a work group, ensuring flow and objective attainment across upstream and downstream areas.

You will model SEL values, mentor staff, and drive safety and quality initiatives within a 100% employee-owned organization. The role emphasizes communication, delegation, and continuous improvement, with responsibilities including training, performance reviews, and process documentation.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of leadership experience.
• Demonstrated ability to model SEL Values to others.
• Ability to communicate professionally, respectfully and openly to a diverse audience.
• Ability to prioritize, organize and delegate work; intervene to remove obstacles as needed.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and product flow for up and downstream areas.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and department's business systems (Lotus Notes, Dynamics AX, SQS, etc.)
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
• Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
• Background check results satisfactory to SEL
• Negative drug test result(s)

Responsibilities

• Model SEL Values and Leadership characteristics to employees.
• Provide clear direction to work group to meet department objectives.
• Understand upstream and downstream work areas for accurate communication and flow.
• Monitor employee performance and deliver feedback; mentor, coach and conduct performance reviews.
• Assess training needs and oversee training.
• Address personnel issues under guidance.
• Create and update work instructions and reports.
• Use basic root cause and continuous improvement tools for quality issues.
• Promote safety standards and implement safety initiatives.
• Model and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing.
• Understand. Create. Simplify.
• Other duties as assigned.
