Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a supervisory professional to lead a department in Lewiston, Idaho. The role emphasizes directing production objectives, coordinating with upstream/downstream teams, and mentoring staff to achieve performance goals.

You will drive engagement, assess training needs, manage safety initiatives, and contribute to staffing and capital planning while upholding SEL Values and manufacturing principles.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated ability to model SEL Values.
• Proven ability to communicate professionally, respectfully and openly to a diverse audience.
• Proven ability to prioritize, organize and delegate work; intervene to remove obstacles as needed.
• Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes and product flow for up and downstream departments.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and department’s business systems (Lotus Notes, Dynamics AX, SQS, etc.)
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
• Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

Responsibilities

• Provide clear direction to meet department production objectives.
• Understand upstream and downstream departments to ensure accurate communication and product flow.
• Monitor employee performance, provide feedback, mentor and coach, and assist with performance reviews and goal setting.
• Drive employee engagement and communicate changes effectively.
• Assess training needs and oversee training programs.
• Address personnel issues and resolve differences equitably.
• Create, update and control department work instructions and reports.
• Provide input into staffing and capital needs through data collection.
• Promote safety standards and implement safety initiatives.
• Model SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
• Understand. Create. Simplify.
• Other duties as assigned.
