Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools is seeking an ESL Program Specialist to oversee district-level ESL activities across multiple locations. You will coordinate with the Coordinator of ESL & World Languages, manage student data, and deliver professional development to staff and schools.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree, ESOL certification, and 3–5 years ESL teaching experience, with proficiency in educational technology. A Master’s degree and Spanish language skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required in education or related area.
• 3–5 years of exemplary ESL teaching experience.
• Current Alabama Teaching Certificate with ESOL certification.
• Experience with educational technology and clerical software.
• Fluency in Spanish or another language preferred; Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as district contact for Empower Academy (newcomers centers).
• Coordinates operations with Empower Academy and maintains student records.
• Collaborates with ESL teachers to update EL data in PowerSchool, ELLevation, and other systems.
• Designs and delivers targeted ESL professional development for various groups.
• Responds to inquiries from staff, students, parents, and others to resolve issues.
• Maintains knowledge of LEP laws, policies, and procedures.
• Manages ESL department supplies, inventory, and procurement.
• Manages calendars, meetings, and PD travel forms as needed.
• Prepares internal communications, agendas, minutes, and notices.
• Processes documents and forms in accordance with procedures.
• Inputs and verifies confidential data and generates reports.
• Establishes filing systems for information access.
• Respects confidentiality of information.
• Performs other job-related duties.
