Job summary

Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland seeks an English Language Development (ELD) teacher to plan and provide ELD instruction for Emergent Multilingual Learner students. Under the direction of the school principal, you will support students’ academic and cultural adjustment and work with staff to optimize the ELD program.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and Maryland ESOL/ELD certification; fluency in another language is preferred.

Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge of second language teaching/learning methods and techniques.
• Ability to collaborate with administrators, counselors and teachers to implement the ELD program.
• Fluency in another language preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan for and provide English language development instruction for ELD-identified students.
• Collaborate with administrators, counselors, teachers and staff on EMN/EML needs.
• Explain the ELD program to parents and serve as a resource for students, staff and community.
