Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools is seeking an Itinerant English as a Second Language Paraprofessional (Bilingual) to support ESL sites with many non-English-speaking students and families. You will tutor students, assist with communication between school staff and families in languages they understand, and help create a positive learning environment while coordinating with assigned teachers.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and at least one additional language.
• High school diploma (or equivalent) with a minimum score of 3 on each ACT WorkKeys section.
• Demonstrated aptitude and skills necessary to perform the responsibilities of the position.

Responsibilities

• Understand and uphold school rules, policies, and procedures.
• Participate in the efficient operation of the school as directed by the Principal.
• Respect the confidentiality of information pertaining to students and staff.
• Assist in fostering positive student attitudes.
• Adhere to board policies and regulations.
• Engage in professional growth and demonstrate professional ethics and leadership.
• Plan regularly with the assigned teacher.
• Tutor individuals and groups of students as assigned.
• Assist in student testing activities as assigned.
• Maintain charts and records of student performances and accomplishments.
• Prepare materials for a positive learning environment.
• Perform clerical tasks including inventory, filing, and typing; operate AV equipment.
