Job summary

VEG is seeking a per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our front-line emergency team. You will work alongside doctors and the ER team to deliver gold-standard, emotionally intelligent care in fast-paced, high-stakes situations.

From triage to discharge, you’ll contribute to treatment, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing while supporting pet parents in their most stressful moments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• CVT, RVT, LVT or LVMT credential in the practice state; VTS in ECC, internal medicine or anesthesia/analgesia is a plus.
• 1+ year experience as a veterinary technician; emergency or specialty medicine preferred.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with EMR/software.
• Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 25 kg, and work nights/weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care and emotional support from triage to discharge.
• Assist with treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing.
• Handle meds, IVs/CRIs, transfusions, and monitoring as needed.
• Communicate effectively with teammates and help shape care plans.
• Perform CPR when required and participate in RECOVER training.
• Operate diagnostics, imaging, sample collection and tube placement.
• Contribute to anesthesia care for fragile patients and support advanced techniques.
