Qualifications

• CVT/RVT/LVMT credential or enrollment in VEG Credentialing Support Program.
• 1+ year in veterinary technician/assistant role; emergency or specialty medicine preferred.
• Strong grasp of clinical workflow and team dynamics.
• Confident in navigating floor operations while guiding others with empathy.
• Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays on a rotating basis.
• Leadership mindset with ownership and growth.
• Basic computer skills and EMR software proficiency.
• Ability to stand for long hours and lift up to 25 kg.
• Able to work in a noisy environment with strong odors.

Responsibilities

• Keep pulse on patient status, team bandwidth, and shift-wide needs.
• Manage daily workflow and pivot when the unexpected hits.
• Ensure shift roles are assigned and adapted with clarity.
• Jump in on the floor when help is needed.
• Coordinate breaks, resolve conflicts, and model calm under pressure.
• Lead shift transitions, team huddles, and end-of-day wrap-ups.
• Communicate clearly, direct questions appropriately, and escalate key issues.
• Turn downtime into learning time or a moment to breathe.
• Flag incidents with transparency and growth mindset.
• Work with hospital leadership on coverage, call-outs, and ongoing coaching.
