Job summary

VEG ER for Pets in Leesburg, VA, seeks a Veterinary Nursing Shift Lead to coordinate shift flow, ensure high‑quality care, and support team members on the floor. You will drive open communication, mentor staff, and uphold patient safety in a fast-paced emergency setting.

The role emphasizes leadership, empathy, and a hands-on approach to staffing, training, and continuous improvement within a nationally recognized ER network.

Qualifications

• Credentialed veterinary technician or enrollment in VEG program.
• 1+ year experience in veterinary technician/assistant role, emergency or specialty medicine preferred.
• Strong grasp of clinical workflow and team dynamics.
• Confident in guiding others with empathy and communicating clearly.

Responsibilities

• Maintain patient status and team bandwidth across shifts.
• Oversee daily workflow and adapt to unexpected events.
• Assign and adjust shift roles with clarity and care.
• Provide on-floor coaching and support as needed.
• Coordinate breaks, resolve conflicts, and model calm under pressure.
• Lead shift transitions, huddles, and end-of-day wrap-ups.
• Communicate key issues clearly to leadership and team.
