Job summary

Sentara Health Plans is hiring an Emergency Department Technician for Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. This on-site, full-time role (36 hours/week) supports physicians and nurses in the ED, with 3rd shift coverage and required de-escalation training.

New hires must have a high school diploma or equivalent and EMT-B certification or eligible clinical student status. BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire. Competitive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• EMT-B with state or national certification at time of hire, or military hospital corps school qualification, or current clinical student with at least one completed semester.
• Prior clinical experience in emergency settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians, advanced practitioners, or nurses in implementing care plans for ED patients.
• Perform procedures and treatments under supervision; participate in de-escalation and safety protocol training.
• Complete required certifications (BLS within 90 days) and maintain licensure-ready status.
