Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a part-time Emergency Department Technician for night shifts (7:00 PM–7:00 AM). This on-site role supports ED care and patient comfort within a high-volume tertiary setting.

You will assist physicians and nurses in implementing care plans for emergency patients and perform procedures under supervision. A high school diploma and EMT-B or equivalent certification are required, with training timelines for de-escalation and BLS specified.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• EMT-B with state or national certification at time of hire OR Successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School OR Current student enrolled in clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, Physical Therapy) having completed at least one semester within the program.
• De-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire for all incumbents.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse in implementing plans of care for emergency/minor emergency care patients.
• Performs patient procedures and treatments under supervision.
• Previous clinical experience.
