Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) in Galveston, TX is seeking an Emergency Department patient-care technician. You will provide intermediate technical assistance and supportive care across ED areas, including vital signs, specimen collection, and hygiene tasks.

Qualifications

• Completion of one of the listed technical programs with 1 year of related experience.
• EMT program or nursing school with first semester completed.
• Active EMS certification at date of hire.
• Recognized military training as a medic.
• ER Tech CBO Tool completion within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Collect, report and document data including vitals, height, weight, intake/output, pulse oximetry, and specimens.
• Perform and report Point of Care Testing.
• Assist with patient activities and care per plan of care.
• Provide personal hygiene and ostomy care.
• Assist feeding and mobility; admit, transfer and discharge patients.
• Support healthcare team during exams and procedures.
• Maintain patient safety and privacy; uphold infection control.
• Ensure clean, safe environments and proper equipment checks.

EMT program

Nursing program (first semester completed)

Active state EMS certification

Military medic training
