Job summary

Sierra Medical Center in Reno, NV is hiring an Emergency Department Registered Nurse to provide direct and indirect patient care in a fast-paced setting. This role performs triage, head-to-toe assessments and pain management, while collaborating with physicians, nurses and support staff to deliver excellent care.

The position requires 2 years of ED experience, an active RN license in the state, and current BCLS; ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• 2 years ED experience required.
• Current RN license within the state of practice.
• Current BCLS Certification.
• ACLS Certified within six (6) months of hire.
• PALS within six (6) months of hire.
• ENPC and TNCC optional.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
• Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy.
• This includes pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population.
• Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
• Uses triage process to ensure timely and appropriate care to patients. Accurately assigns triage categories.
