Job summary

FMOL Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative 1 for the Emergency Department. The role focuses on accurate patient registration, identity verification, ED-specific screening data collection, and coordinating with ED staff to ensure timely triage and seamless admission processes.

You will verify insurance, collect co-pays/deductibles, determine in-network status post-stabilization, and balance cash.

Qualifications

• 1 year of customer service experience or related certification (e.g., Certified Coder, Certified Medical Assistant)
• Education: High School diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to comply with EMTALA and No Surprises Act regulations
• Strong clerical and computer skills; professional appearance and behavior
• Ability to work in high-stress situations with effective communication
• Flexible, dependable, and capable of teamwork
• Respond to disaster activations on-site until completion

Responsibilities

• Register patients in the ED accurately, verify identity and collect screening information
• Coordinate with ED nurses to ensure timely triage
• Verify insurance, collect co-pays, determine in-network/out-of-network status post-stabilization
• Balance cash and handle billing tasks
• Communicate professionally with patients, families, physicians, and nurses
• Respond to disasters and be prepared to work on-site during activations
