Job summary

Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System is seeking an Emergency Department Patient Registration Specialist (PRN/OCC) to efficiently register patients in a busy ED setting. You will collect demographic and financial information, verify insurance, and handle payments with accuracy.

The role operates 24/7 and supports patient flow across the ED, EMS registration, and discharge processes, ensuring compliant, friendly service to patients and families.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months customer-facing experience.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Demonstrates ability to follow EMTALA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Performs Quick Registration for ED encounters.
• Coordinates front desk flow and notifies triage/charge nurse of urgent cases.
• Gathers demographic and financial information for all encounters.
• Collects co-payments/deposits and delivers receipts to cashier.
• Uses electronic signatures and explains consent, directives, and Medicare forms.
• Maintains ED registration status and updates tracking board.
