Job summary

Qualifications

• High school level knowledge required to prepare reports, keep records and interact with people.
• 6-9 months of healthcare experience preferred to become familiar with institutional policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Greet and direct patients, visitors, and staff.
• Answer telephones promptly and courteously; direct calls and take messages.
• Collect and distribute patient referral information from affiliated physicians.
• Escort visitors and patients to appropriate areas and provide information.
• Distribute department materials and ensure availability of documents.
• Register patients by updating demographic, financial information and emergency contact data.
• Verify demographic information and insurance coverage with patients or family.
• Process charts and attach pertinent information per policy.
• Review discharged charts for diagnosis, physician signature and forms.
• Process specimens for laboratory labeling and identification.
• File charts and retrieve records as needed.
• Enter data into required computer systems.
• Maintain patient recall files.
• Stamp papers and forms per policy.
• Log patients into registration sheets; reconcile logs.
• Obtain signatures for consent; make clinic appointments.
• Other duties as assigned.
