Job summary

Medical City Dallas is seeking an RN for the Emergency Department in Garland. The nurse will coordinate delivery of high-quality patient-centered care in collaboration with medical providers and the care team, using established nursing models to assess, perform, teach and manage patient care.

The role involves pain management, procedures, accurate documentation, prompt responsiveness to patient requests, and patient-family education to support self-management and improved outcomes.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas.
• ACLS certification required within 30 days of start date.
• PALS certification required within 18 months of start date.
• BCLS certification required within 30 days of start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or equivalent within 1 year of start date.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient pain regularly and promote effective pain management with timely reassessments.
• Perform procedures and monitoring as ordered; document care in the medical record promptly.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs to resolve issues.
• Teach patients and families about condition, treatment plan, medications, and follow-up steps; translate medical terms as needed.
• Educate on non-medical follow-up measures such as diet, exercise and self-management.
