Job summary

UAB Medicine is expanding its Emergency Department at UAB Hospital and seeks experienced Registered Nurses to join the team. You will apply the nursing process to support health promotion, prevention, and quality patient care in a high-volume trauma center environment.

Ideal candidates have a nursing degree, current RN licensure, BLS, and preferably ACLS/PALS; prior ED or ICU exposure is valued. The role requires flexible shifts including nights and weekends in a large academic health system.

Qualifications

• 3 years or more of nursing experience preferred.
• 2+ years of experience preferred in psychiatric nursing, psychiatric emergency nursing, or correctional nursing.
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• If job is in a free-standing emergency department (FSED) location, one (1) year of emergency or ICU nursing experience is required.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• ACLS and/or PALS may be required depending on unit/department.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to care and counsel individuals in health promotion and illness prevention.
• Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, podiatrists, dentists, and other health care staff to deliver patient-centered care.
