Job summary

Community Hospital of San Bernardino is seeking a Lab Assistant to support diagnostic testing by collecting, preparing, and processing patient specimens (blood, urine, tissue) using our advanced technologies. You will contribute to accurate test results and patient care.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, adherence to procedures, and ongoing learning. You will work in the Emergency Room setting and collaborate with the laboratory team under SEIU-UHW terms.

Qualifications

• Minimum of six months as a laboratory phlebotomist is required.
• California Certified Phlebotomy through the Department of Public Health required.
• High school Diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide appropriate care relative to the patient’s age-specific needs.
• Play a critical role in the Emergency Room schedule and workflow.
• Assist with specimen processing, including labeling, centrifuging, and aliquoting.
• Prepare reagents and solutions according to established protocols.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
• Perform routine lab tasks such as washing glassware, sterilizing instruments, and preparing culture media.
• Assist with data entry and record-keeping, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Assist with other tasks as assigned by the laboratory supervisor.
• Will be required to work in the Emergency Room.
