Qualifications

• Lab Assistant/phlebotomist in an acute care hospital. One (1) year experience preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory terminology, aseptic technique, laboratory tests and specimen handling and blood collection techniques as demonstrated by CAP required competency assessment and organizational requirements.
• California CPT-1 or CPT-2 or certification or other California state certification permitting phlebotomy.

Responsibilities

• Accurately and efficiently perform all necessary laboratory services.
• Perform duties including patient registration, test ordering, specimen collection, and pre- and post-analytical processing.
• Utilize hospital and laboratory information systems to manage specimens and report data, ensuring all results are communicated effectively.
• Prioritize secure handling of medical supplies, including needles and syringes, while adhering to hospital policies and fulfilling additional duties as assigned.
