The Heat-Treating Technician – Electrical Resistance performs PWHT using electrical resistance methods, including setup, operation, and documentation of heat cycles on piping, vessels, and weldments. Candidates with induction or combustion experience are encouraged; travel to field and shop sites is required, with safety

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of hands-on ERHT in industrial environments.
• High School Diploma or GED required; able to obtain site access credentials.
• Must pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and background check.
• Willingness to travel and work in varied environments (Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Power, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of ceramic heating pads, controller programming, thermocouples, and insulation layout.

Responsibilities

• Perform setup, operation, and breakdown of electrical resistance heating systems.
• Execute PWHT and preheat activities per procedures, specs, and codes.
• Lay out and install heat treating blankets, insulation, and thermocouples.
• Program, monitor, and record temperature cycles with control units.
• Interpret weld procedures, stress relief specs, and heat treat drawings.
• Troubleshoot equipment, wiring, and temperature control issues on-site.
• Coordinate with welders, inspectors, and client representatives on-site.
• Maintain records of heat cycles, charts, and equipment logs for QA/QC.
