Job summary

Houston Methodist in Sugar Land, TX is seeking an Emergency Room Technician who supports patient care in a fast-paced ER. You will perform ADLs, assist licensed nurses, document observations, and handle routine clerical tasks.

Candidates must have a high school diploma, six months ER experience or EMT certification, and BLS/CPI credentials within 3 months. Strong communication, time management, and teamwork are essential to delivering safe, compassionate care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Six months in an emergency setting or Emergency Medical Technician Basic or Intermediate certification (State of Texas).
• BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association and NVCRISIS - Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or Instructor (CPI).
• Preferred CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ACA).

Responsibilities

• Performs delegated low risks, high frequency technical and clinical procedures under RN supervision.
• Documents screenings, care administered, diagnostic measurements and medications per policy.
• Assumes the role of phlebotomist when necessary and collects drug screens.
• Monitors patients with hourly rounds and reports observations to the licensed nurse.
