Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Efficient with keyboarding and computer applications.
• One year of experience in healthcare financial counseling.
• One year of experience in hospital or medical office setting.

Responsibilities

• Interview incoming patients and collect admission data.
• Obtain signatures for consent of care and hospital policy.
• Enter, record, store, and maintain information in the health information system.
• Interview patient to obtain and record insurance responsible for payment.
• Explain hospital regulations, such as visiting hours and payment of accounts.
• Provide a smooth flow of patients through admitting area and direct to appropriate department.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in all disclosures.
• Verify insurance benefits prior to admission and for emergencies.
• Coordinate pre-certification and admissions processes as needed.
• Cross-train staff for cross coverage as necessary.
