Job summary

YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking a Lead Teacher for our ECEAP classroom in the Bellevue/Redmond area. You will help provide an excellent educational experience for children and families, supported by a caring leadership team and rich resources.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• Experience working with children in preschool/ece settings.
• Completion of minimum STARS-required training.
• Associate or higher degree, plus 30 ECE credits or WA teaching certificate with ECE endorsement.
• Knowledge of culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Cleared portable background check (MERIT).
• Pre-employment TB tests and MMR vaccination required.
• On hire, training within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate activities.
• Direct program to meet needs and interests of all children.
• Supervise groups to ensure health, safety, and positive experiences.
• Coach/participate with Early Achievers and YMCA quality groups.
• Guide staff/volunteers overseeing activities and observations.
• Maintain daily reports and parent communications (newsletters, conferences).
• Follow YMCA policies on safety, discipline, and abuse prevention.
• May cover for Program Supervisor during short-term absences.
• Maintain a clean, developmentally appropriate classroom and environment.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
