Job summary

Seattle YMCA in Seattle's West Seattle location is seeking an Early Education Teacher to provide developmentally appropriate activities and a nurturing learning environment for young children.

You will implement curriculum aligned with Youth Development goals, supervise groups, document observations, communicate with families, and participate in trainings and staff meetings as part of a supportive team committed to equity and inclusive education.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 12 Early Childhood Education credits completed or expected to complete within five years of the hire date.
• Experience working with children the same age as those to be supervised.
• Completion of minimum STARS-required training.
• Cleared Portable Background Check in MERIT.
• Knowledge of culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Pre-employment TB tests and MMR vaccination (Concentra options available).

Responsibilities

• Implement culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities with the curriculum.
• Coordinate activities fitting children’s developmental needs to support social, intellectual, and physical growth.
• Supervise a group of children to ensure health and safety.
• Complete individual child observations for assessments.
• Communicate with families and participate in conferences.
• Maintain daily activity records and family information notes.
• Follow YMCA policies, including safety and abuse prevention.
• Assist Lead Teacher during absences and maintain learning environments.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
