Job summary

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC Health Department) seeks a Public Health Emergency Preparedness professional to help design and implement community engagement initiatives and contracts across human services, faith-based, and community leadership sectors.

You will work with OEPR and partners to build capacity, coordinate with stakeholders, and develop evaluation strategies for CPP, while ensuring equity and accessibility in preparedness planning for NYC.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in emergency management, public health, disaster management, emergency preparedness/administration, public administration, or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of full-time professional experience in emergency preparedness planning/management or related areas (or 2 years with a bachelor’s).
• Experience with community engagement, coalition-building, and bidirectional communications.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and program implementation of contracts within Human Services, Faith sectors, and Community leadership sectors.
• Help design emergency preparedness events, trainings, and tools to build social capital via community engagement.
• Track CPP data to inform future preparedness and response activities with contracted partners.
• Assist in engaging communities to integrate partners into agency emergency response plans.
• Create capacity-building tools/templates to support sectors’ emergency response readiness.
