Job summary

United Rentals, Inc. is hiring an United Academy Trainer to deliver world-class safety and operator training to customers and internal teams.

You will serve as an expert on equipment operation, safety requirements, and workforce development, leveraging LMS, digital tools, and hands-on evaluations. You will collaborate with Sales and Operations to identify opportunities, drive training revenue, and ensure regulatory compliance while traveling about 70% of the time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field or experience.
• Bilingual (Spanish) may be required or preferred in select markets.
• Minimum 3 years delivering equipment operator, safety, or workforce development training programs.
• Experience conducting practical evaluations, Train-the-Trainer programs, or competency assessments preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, CSA, MSHA, and other safety standards preferred.
• Experience operating/training on construction, industrial, material handling, or aerial equipment preferred.
• Proven ability to build customer relationships and support business development initiatives.
• Experience collaborating with Sales, Operations, and cross-functional teams to develop customer-focused training solutions.
• Strong facilitation, presentation, coaching, and communication skills with diverse audiences.
• Experience using LMS, CRM (Salesforce preferred), mobile apps, and digital documentation tools.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and adapt to changing needs.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills; Salesforce.com knowledge preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license; travel approximately 70% of time.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instructor-led safety and equipment operator training for customers and United Rentals employees.
• Conduct practical evaluations, Train-the-Trainer programs, and Certified Evaluator certifications.
• Utilize digital platforms, mobile apps, simulators, and blended learning to enhance training.
• Adapt delivery methods to meet customer needs while maintaining compliance and quality.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on equipment operation, safety requirements, and workforce development.
• Partner with Sales, Operations, and local teams to identify training opportunities and support revenue growth.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers, branch personnel, and regional stakeholders.
• Participate in meetings, site visits, training consultations, and proposal development.
• Promote value of safety training, eLearning, and workforce development solutions.
• Communicate training schedules, opportunities, and market intelligence to teams.
• Maintain training records, certifications, and customer documentation.
• Utilize LMS, Salesforce, and mobile tech to manage training activities.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Maintain instructor certifications and credentials.
• Support QA, audits, and continuous improvement efforts.
