Summary of Position: Richardson, Galena Park is seeking an Equipment Maintenance Manager to develop and implement maintenance strategies, supervise the maintenance team, and ensure compliance with safety standards. This role involves regular inspections, budget management, contractor coordination, and prompt response to equipment breakdowns.

Essential Duties:

  • Implement maintenance strategies to minimize downtime.
  • Supervise and manage the maintenance team.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Manage maintenance-related budgets.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and suppliers.
  • Implement initiatives to enhance maintenance procedures and reduce costs.
  • Address equipment breakdowns promptly.
  • Perform forklift diagnostics, repairs, and documentation.

Working Skill Set Examples:

  • Starting Issues: Troubleshooting forklift starting problems, especially in cold weather, caused by low battery, corroded terminals, faulty ignition, or failing starter motor. Solutions include checking and recharging batteries, cleaning terminals, testing/replacing ignition switches, inspecting starter motors.
  • Hydraulic System Failures: Diagnosing issues with lifting/lowering loads smoothly, caused by low hydraulic fluid, contamination, clogged filters, or damaged seals. Solutions involve refilling fluid, replacing filters, inspecting/replacing seals.
  • Tire Wear and Damage: Addressing reduced traction due to worn/damaged tires caused by overuse, under-inflation, or rough terrain. Regular inspections, maintaining correct inflation, and prompt replacement are recommended.
  • Brake Problems: Resolving ineffective brakes from worn pads, low fluid, or trapped air. Solutions include replacing brake pads, refilling fluid, bleeding lines.
  • Overheating Engine: Managing engine overheating caused by low coolant, blocked airflow, or faulty fans. Refill coolant, clean radiator, repair/replace fans.
  • Steering Difficulties: Fixing steering issues due to low fluid, worn components, or misalignment. Refill fluid, replace parts, align wheels.
  • Electrical Problems: Repairing lighting, horn, signal issues from blown fuses, wiring damage, or faulty bulbs. Replace/fix as needed.
  • Fork Misalignment: Addressing instability from bent forks or misalignment. Inspect, repair/replace forks, train operators.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee maintenance and repair efforts.
  • Manage maintenance activities and plans.
  • Resolve problems and ensure safety of maintenance personnel.
  • Communicate with management on maintenance issues.
  • Supervise maintenance staff.
  • Monitor inventory and systems.
  • Plan and prioritize work orders.
  • Coordinate with safety and operations teams.
  • Maintain labor schedules and morale.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and labor policies.
  • Complete administrative reports and procedures.
  • Be available for after-hours emergencies.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s in industrial engineering or related field is a plus.
  • Certifications such as CMRP or CPE are advantageous.
  • At least 5 years of maintenance management experience, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership, mechanical and electrical skills, diagnostic proficiency.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • Supervisory experience required.

Schedule:

  • First shift, occasional weekends
