Supervise the branch maintenance program in an efficient, safe manner. Supervise and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in servicing and repairing equipment and vehicles, while providing hands-on maintenance to assist shop employees with their daily tasks.

What you'll do:

  • Supervise all employees in the maintenance department, planning and directing work of shop personnel.
  • Make repairs to vehicles and equipment as needed, following up on all repairs made by maintenance staff.
  • Establish and enforce a preventative maintenance program to ensure equipment safety and operability by planning, scheduling, and following up on maintenance work.
  • Maintain all vehicle inspection, maintenance, and safety records as required by authorities and company policies.
  • Ensure all work and the shop facility comply with safety standards.
  • Ensure the Safe Lane operates efficiently.
  • Coordinate with Operations Supervisor/Management for equipment inspections, repairs, and service.
  • Schedule and conduct safety meetings, ensuring employee compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a cost-effective inventory of supplies and parts, and oversee procurement.
  • Oversee shop facility and grounds maintenance.
  • Track fuel use, order fuel as needed, and prepare monthly fuel reports for the Branch Manager.
  • Monitor expenses across all product lines.
  • Review work orders and VCRs daily, run inventory/part cost queries, and enter adjustments.
  • Send required reports to Area Controller monthly.
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of trucks and shop facilities.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train shop personnel; evaluate and discipline staff as needed.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and directives.
  • Coordinate safety meetings as required.

What's required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • DOT certification for air brake inspection and annual vehicle inspections
  • Class B CDL within 6 months of hire
  • Prior supervisory experience in a maintenance setting preferred
  • Full set of hand tools
  • Knowledge of welding, compactor repair, air brakes, and vehicle inspections

What you'll need:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, TMW, I-Pak, JDEdwards
  • Understanding of G/L codes for parts and labor
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, instructions, and reports
  • Effective communication skills
  • Mathematical skills for calculating discounts, proportions, etc.
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of budget processes
