Responsibilities of a Facilities Manager

1. Upkeep of the building and property
2. Completion of safety inspections
3. Inspection of hallways, classrooms, and offices for compliance with fire and building codes
4. Assist the Campus President with budget, procurement, and expenses
5. Oversee wiring, electrical, plumbing, machinery, and equipment repairs
6. Understand HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and critical building systems
7. Familiarity with OSHA standards, fire safety, and emergency preparedness
8. Manage budgets, control costs, and plan finances
9. Apply energy efficiency, waste management, and sustainable practices
10. Negotiate and manage vendor contracts
11. Utilize facility management software and smart building technologies
12. Provide excellent customer service to building occupants
13. Ensure legal and regulatory compliance

Requirements of a Facilities Manager

1. Experience in criminal justice, fire service, or safety prevention
2. Associate degree in a related field
3. 2-3 years management experience
4. Project and staff management skills
5. Basic knowledge of operating forklifts, scissor lifts, and similar equipment
