- Lead large, complex HVAC equipment construction projects valued at $3M or more
- Travel occasionally to customer sites for meetings and troubleshooting
- Support the Washington, DC market and travel to DC when needed
- Lead execution teams as the primary internal project leader
- Direct internal and external teams to successfully execute equipment projects
- Develop project schedules and execute projects according to plan
- Support Project Engineers and System Application Engineers in evaluating contractual scope and impacts of client bulletins, field directives, and schedule changes
- Pursue additional work through change orders; prepare cost estimates, proposals, and negotiate final settlement prices and customer acceptance
- Manage company HVAC mechanics and subcontractors
- Manage project costs, billings, collections, profitability, and cash flow
- Review and interpret contract terms and conditions
- Analyze financial reporting systems and project schedules to proactively address problems
- Communicate project progress, issues, and financial status to management
- Manage risks, establish recovery plans, and resolve disputes
- Negotiate, prepare, and issue subcontracts
- Ensure project document controls comply with contract requirements and Johnson Controls standards
- Oversee construction for compliance with specifications, local codes, and installation techniques
- Manage material selection, ordering, procurement, and delivery schedules
- Maintain relationships with customers, consultants, prime contractors, and subcontractors
- Attend job progress meetings and ensure subcontractors understand project expectations
- Coordinate resource allocation with sales, operations, construction management, installation, systems, service, and branch project teams
- Ensure field engineering and commissioning comply with established standards
- Facilitate escalation of product-related problems
- Assist area management and sales with project development
- Coordinate customer training requirements
- For select bundled projects, direct truck-based teams, support sales, perform cost estimating, scheduling, and project management
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture, or an Associate’s Degree with equivalent work-related experience
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate technical material to a non-technical audience
- Willingness and ability to travel; travel varies by project assignment and projects may exist outside the assigned geography
- Proficiency in project management software and financial accounting systems
- Strong computer skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project), Adobe Writer, Visio, and basic Windows environment
- Minimum of five years of direct project management experience in the Building Construction Industry preferred
- Management experience with Mechanical Retrofits, BAS management, and HVAC Equipment highly preferred
