Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Construction Supervisor to lead on-site teams, oversee scheduling, and ensure safety and quality across multiple crews. The role requires managing materials, contractors, and costs while maintaining strong communication with the Site Manager and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have a four-year degree in construction management or related field (or equivalent) and at least five years of supervisory experience.

Qualifications

  • A four-year degree in construction management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of supervising a construction crew in grading, structural, electrical, or mechanical work.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean MVR.
  • Ability to supervise and present to large groups of employees.
  • Proficient with MS Office and project management tools.
  • Willingness to relocate to project site for the duration.
  • May require contractor licensing qualifications.

Job description

  • Provide on-site supervision of Assistant Superintendents, Forepersons, and craft personnel to ensure safe, productive, quality work and controlled costs
  • Schedule labor, materials, tools, equipment, and subcontractors within the work discipline
  • Set direction for Assistant Trade Superintendents and Forepersons and enforce company policies and state and federal regulations
  • Provide formal quarterly coaching feedback and regular informal feedback
  • Develop frontline employees through onboarding, training, and mentoring
  • Coordinate and share resources with other projects
  • Manage safety procedures, employee orientation, special risks, cranes, lifting, DOT requirements, site conditions, telehandlers, JHAs, CATS observation goals, and accident/injury management
  • Communicate project status and problem areas to the Site Manager
  • Collaborate on staffing, including hiring, promoting, disciplining, and terminating trade employees
  • Assist the Site Manager with owner communication and negotiation regarding major project decisions
  • Build collaborative relationships with craft personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and the Owner
  • Compare actual costs with job estimates and report cost overruns
  • Verify construction activities and project engineering conform to the Quality Plan, Best Practices, and Blattner Energy Quality Systems
  • Establish and communicate project specifications and craftsmanship expectations
  • Assist with quality, best practices, estimating, and project close-out meetings
  • Mentor Field Construction Coordinators and Field Engineers
  • Identify potential change orders and inform the Site Manager
  • Act as project leader when the Site Manager is absent
  • Hire locally, attend job fairs and public information meetings, and liaise with community leaders and local landowners
  • Perform additional assignments as directed
Requirements
  • A 4-year degree in construction management, engineering, or related degree; equivalent combination of a 2-year technical college degree with a minimum of 3 years construction supervisory experience; or a minimum of 6 years of additional construction supervisory experience
  • Five years' experience supervising a construction crew and working in grading, structural, electrical, and/or mechanical construction
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR)
  • Ability to supervise and present to a large number of employees
  • Working knowledge of equipment and appropriate applications
  • Effective oral, written, listening, and presentation communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Project, and Visio
  • Excellent organizational, scheduling, planning, and prioritization skills
  • Accounting, math, and record-keeping skills
  • Involved with and understands all disciplines of current project task
  • Must relocate to the project site for the duration of each assigned construction project
  • May be required to become a qualified individual in pursuit of company contract licensing
