Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced maintenance lead to perform HVAC and data center upkeep, troubleshooting, and system enhancements across chilled water, condensers, CRAHs/CRACs, humidity control, and related systems.

The role requires strong technical writing, ability to read schematics, and leadership in preventive maintenance initiatives, with travel across North America and potential after-hours work.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of direct hands-on experience in maintenance in mission-critical environments.
  • Knowledge of Low/Medium Voltage, UPS, Generators, or HVAC.
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints and manuals.
  • Experience creating/updating MOPs, SOPs and EOPs.
  • Formal specialized training in UPS, generators, or chillers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specialized maintenance and troubleshooting in mission-critical environments.
  • Ensure uninterrupted data center operations.
  • Manage complex maintenance projects with minimal supervision.
  • Respond to safety incidents and emergencies.
  • Adapt workflows to shifting priorities with discretion.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and technical partners.
  • Perform HVAC/chiller operations across systems.
  • Provide technical leadership in optimization and energy efficiency.
  • Develop and implement preventive/predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Resolve complex HVAC issues and oversee major upgrades.
  • Mentor junior personnel and contribute to training programs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.

Job description


  • Perform detailed, specialized maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational tasks within the area of expertise

  • Ensure uninterrupted data center operations

  • Independently manage complex maintenance projects and system enhancements with minimal supervision

  • Respond to safety incidents and emergency situations

  • Adapt workflows to shifting priorities using discretion and judgment

  • Collaborate with internal teams across multiple organizational levels, vendors, and technical partners

  • Perform HVAC/chiller operations and maintenance for chilled water and condenser water systems, CRAHs, CRACs, humidity control, leak detection, commercial AC systems, airflow systems, boilers, and air compressors

  • Provide technical leadership focused on HVAC optimization, innovation, and operational excellence

  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies using advanced techniques and data-driven decision-making

  • Resolve complex HVAC operational issues and oversee major system upgrades

  • Optimize energy efficiency

  • Mentor junior personnel and contribute to industry standards, training programs, and technological advancements

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management


Requirements


  • Minimum 8 years of direct hands-on experience specializing in maintenance and repair within mission-critical environments; 10+ years preferred

  • Extensive knowledge of maintenance practices and operational standards relevant to Low Voltage, Medium Voltage, UPS, Generators, or HVAC

  • Proven ability to read and interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and operational manuals

  • Strong technical writing capabilities

  • Experience creating and updating MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs

  • Completion of formal specialized training, such as UPS systems, generator maintenance, or chiller systems

  • Current professional licensure or certification relevant to the technical specialization

  • Successful completion of a background check

  • Travel expected to range from 15–20% within North America (US / Canada)

  • Occasional travel of less than 5% for training and professional development, potentially increasing as the business evolves

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach for 1/3–2/3 of the time

  • Ability to smell, talk, hear, type, handle, feel, and see at close and distance ranges, including color vision

  • Comfortable working in a high-stress, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities

  • Willingness to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays, and on-call support

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds 1/3 of the time
