Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company is seeking a skilled Claim Counsel to join the Bond & Specialty Insurance team in Hartford. You will manage claims, coordinate with outside counsel, and provide legal and underwriting support while ensuring regulatory compliance and high-quality service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required to practice law.
• Juris Doctor (JD) required.
• Licensed, registered, or authorized to practice law in the jurisdiction.
• Two years of relevant legal experience.
• Valid driver’s license or access to transportation for travel to mediations/depositions.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, investigate, and resolve Bond & Specialty claims of lower to moderate severity with guidance.
• Manage outside counsel and other vendors; negotiate settlements as appropriate.
• Prepare management reports on loss development and financial exposure.
• Coordinate recovery efforts to optimize loss mitigation.
• Attend mediations, settlement conferences, trials, and depositions as needed.
• Provide legal and business support to underwriting colleagues; review contracts and bond forms.
• Monitor industry trends and communicate insights to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with BSI claims processes and confidentiality standards.
• Maintain claim file documentation and records.
