Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Epic Certification in Hospital Coding Administration or similar is required.
• 3-5 years of experience in healthcare IT or HIM.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
• Familiarity with HIM processes including MPI, Release of Information, and coding.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with stakeholders, end-users, and application team members to optimize the HIM configuration, function, and access.
• Serves as a primary support contact for application end-users.
• Initiates the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the HIM applications.
• Initiates all phases of testing and the documentation of workflow design.
• Performs the analysis of information technology in clinical work processes and validates the impacts to the workflow.
• Initiates the identification of issues and guides the work to resolve them.
• Supports junior staff in the evaluation and resolution of service tickets, identification and implementation of application changes, retrieval of data, and day-to-day operations.
• Collaborates with trainers on application changes and new features to develop documentation and training strategies.
• Works with stakeholders, the business community, and end users to ensure the HIM application meets business/clinical needs.
• Participates in on-call rotations and attends applicable committees.
• Maintains regular communication with team members and leadership.
• Remains knowledgeable about policies and safeguards University assets.
