Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in Newark, NJ is seeking a Scheduler to coordinate patient appointments and support efficient operations, contributing to a positive patient experience. You will work with patients, physicians, and staff to schedule, update records and convey scheduling details.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience, familiarity with EPIC, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience and/or training.
• Healthcare clerical experience and medical terminology preferred.
• Knowledgeable with Epic, scheduling, and prior authorizations preferred.
• Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Schedule appointments based on physician orders and patient needs.
• Manage scheduling work queues and In Basket messages within EPIC.
• Verify insurance and pre-authorizations have been obtained.
• Communicate appointment details with patients and address scheduling inquiries.
• Maintain accurate patient information while delivering excellent customer service (80–100 calls per day).
