Job summary

Piedmont is seeking a Principal Trainer to serve as the content expert for Epic applications and Piedmont workflows. The role involves designing and leading training programs, coordinating with IS and clinical teams, and ensuring materials mirror production environments.

You will deliver classroom, web-based, remote, and one-on-one training, participate in go-live events, provide ongoing user support, and build strong relationships with Epic users and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, computer technology, or science; or four (4) years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible training, support or project management experience; or seven (7) years in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Appropriate Epic certification obtained for the assigned responsibility within 90 days.

  • Master both Epic application and Piedmont workflows.
  • Design and deliver classroom, web‑based, remote, and one‑on‑one training sessions.
  • Create, update and maintain training materials and environments that mirror production.
  • Participate in go‑live events and provide ongoing user support (on‑site and remote).
  • Collaborate with application workgroups on workflow design and system build.
  • Coordinate training policies, procedures, scheduling, and certification management.
  • Oversee training facility management, including construction, technical infrastructure and devices.
  • Maintain strong business relationships with internal stakeholders and Epic users.

Overview

Principal Trainer will be the content expert for their respective Epic application(s) and Piedmont‑specific workflows. The role includes designing and leading the implementation of training programs and associated materials in coordination with other Principal Trainers. Training methods may include classroom, web‑based learning, remote instruction (WebEx), one‑on‑one coaching, and written materials. The Trainer ensures training meets initial and ongoing needs, supports usability and proficiency programs, maintains training content quality, stays current with best practices, participates in go‑live events, provides direct and remote user support, builds and maintains training environments, and works within application workgroups to understand workflow design. As a representative of Information Services, the Trainer establishes and maintains critical business relationships with co‑workers, physicians and other Epic users.
