Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Manager IS Applications Training to lead a team responsible for Epic training curriculum across the organization. You will mentor trainers, coordinate schedules, and partner with clinical and IT leaders to align training with current workflows.

The role requires 5+ years in healthcare IT or education, Epic certifications, and strong facilitation, communication, and project management skills. A Bachelor's degree is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or commensurate experience in adult learning and training.
• Current Epic certifications or ability to achieve.
• Five (5) years of progressive healthcare IT or adult equivalent teaching/education experience including two (2) years of experience in training module development with an emphasis on computer/web-based and multimedia design.
• Experience managing, coaching, or mentoring trainers with demonstrated leadership abilities.
• Extensive knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional systems design, and other training methodology/concepts.
• Strong facilitation skills.
• Strong writing, communication and project management skills.
• Excellent stand-up presentation skills.
• Proficient with a variety of learning development tools (Workday, Captivate, etc.)
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with physicians, employees and system leadership.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support the training team’s vision and strategy.
• Manages trainers who design, develop, deploy and maintain the Epic training curriculum.
• Advocates for integration of operational workflow into the training development plan where possible.
• Periodically conducts analyses to identify learning needs for caregivers.
• Manages training deployment via the Learning Management Systems (LMS)
• Oversees the build and maintenance of Epic Master training environment(s).
• Collaborates with Application teams to ensure training environment is kept current.
• Works with operational leadership to ensure appropriate training attendance.
• Manages the hiring and onboarding of new hires.
• Maintains responsibility for the quality of all delivered training and training curriculum.
• Maintains open communication with the Director of IS Applications Training, regarding training requirements.
• Performs random audits of training sessions for compliance and consistency with established standards.
• Reviews application upgrade documentation and updates training curriculum.
• Manages assigned personnel including scheduling, orientation, and training.
• Completes performance evaluations and provides improvement recommendations.
• Provides direction and leadership of staff to align with system-wide initiatives.
• Participates in performance improvement initiatives and quality improvement in daily operations.
