Job summary

The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. is seeking a regular, full-time housekeeping professional for the evening shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM) at 15 Francis Street, onsite in Boston.

Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, waxing, cleaning floors and surfaces, restroom sanitation, waste handling, event setup, and reporting maintenance needs. Requires 2–3 years hospital cleaning experience and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• 2-3 years experience operating hospital cleaning equipment and chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, wax, strip, and polish floors.
• Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment.
• Clean walls, ceilings, fixtures, and glass surfaces.
• Empty, clean, and sanitize waste receptacles.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms and fixtures; replenish supplies.
• Remove debris from building grounds and surrounding areas.
• Operate floor care equipment; strip and buff floors.
• Set up tables, chairs, and equipment for events.
• Identify and report maintenance needs.
• Follow safety and infection control procedures.

Schedule

Schedule: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM, Sunday through Saturday, with scheduled days off on Monday and Tuesday. Rotating holiday coverage required.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, wax, strip, and polish floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets.
• Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment.
• Clean walls, ceilings, woodwork, door panels, windows, sills, blinds, and glass surfaces.
• Empty, clean, and sanitize waste receptacles in assigned areas.
• Clean and sanitize restroom facilities and fixtures, including sinks, urinals, toilets, mirrors, walls, and drinking fountains; replenish supplies as needed.
• Remove debris from building grounds and surrounding areas.
• Operate high- and low-speed floor care equipment, including stripping and buffing machines.
• Set up tables, chairs, and equipment for special events and routine hospital activities.
• Identify and report building maintenance needs within assigned areas.
• Follow established safety, infection control, and departmental procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.

Licenses and Credentials: Experience: Experience working with the cleaning equipment and chemicals used in hospitals and healthcare centers. 2-3 years required.

• Strong organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

• Good communication and comprehension skills.
