Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, part of Mass General Brigham, is seeking a dedicated environmental services team member to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary healthcare environment.

The role requires operating and maintaining cleaning equipment, following infection control protocols, and supporting hospital operations on a Monday–Friday schedule 5am to 1:30pm. This onsite position emphasizes professionalism and excellent patient-facing service.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: 2-3 years required in hospital cleaning and using cleaning equipment/chemicals.
  • Skills: strong organization, teamwork, and clear communication.

Responsibilities

  • Sweep, mop, wax, strip, and polish floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets.
  • Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, equipment, and woodwork.
  • Clean walls, ceilings, windows, blinds, sills, and glass surfaces.
  • Empty, clean, and sanitize trash and waste receptacles.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms; restock supplies as needed.
  • Remove debris and maintain cleanliness around entrances and surrounding areas.
  • Operate floor care equipment; set up tables and equipment for meetings and events.
  • Identify and report maintenance or safety concerns; follow infection control protocols.

Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary healthcare environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Supports overall hospital operations by ensuring assigned areas meet cleanliness, infection prevention, and safety standards. Does this position require Patient Care? No

Essential Functions
  • Sweep, mop, wax, strip, and polish floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets.
  • Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, equipment, and woodwork throughout the facility.
  • Clean walls, ceilings, windows, blinds, sills, door panels, and glass surfaces.
  • Empty, clean, and sanitize trash and waste receptacles in assigned areas.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, urinals, mirrors, walls, and drinking fountains; restock restroom supplies as needed.
  • Remove debris and maintain cleanliness around building entrances and surrounding areas.
  • Operate high- and low-speed floor care equipment, including stripping and buffing machines.
  • Set up and arrange tables, chairs, and equipment for meetings, events, and hospital activities.
  • Identify and report maintenance, safety, or repair concerns within assigned areas.
  • Follow all hospital safety, infection control, and environmental service protocols.
  • Maintain professionalism and provide excellent customer service when interacting with patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Schedule Monday to Friday 5am to 1:30pm.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.
  • Experience: 2-3 years required. Experience working with the cleaning equipment and chemicals used in hospitals and healthcare centers.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to work independently but also be a team player.
    • Good communication and comprehension skills.
