Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the Medical Center. This position plays an important role in infection prevention by thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting patient and non-patient areas, properly handling and disposing of waste, and maintaining equipment and assigned work areas according to established safety and infection control standards.

Essential Functions
  • Performs routine and detailed cleaning and sanitizing of assigned patient and non-patient areas in accordance with established schedules, departmental procedures, and infection prevention guidelines.
  • Cleans and services rooms, common areas, offices, hallways, and other assigned areas to maintain a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment.
  • Collects, removes, and properly disposes of general waste and other designated waste streams according to established procedures.
  • Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed throughout Medical Center departments.
  • Operates assigned cleaning equipment, including floor machines, buffers, and other Environmental Services equipment.
  • Maintains cleaning equipment and supplies in a safe, organized, and working condition.
  • Follows all safety, sanitation, infection control, and hazardous-material handling procedures.
  • Responds to cleaning needs and department requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Participates in a minimum of eight department or unit meetings annually.
  • Maintains assigned areas in a clean, orderly, safe, and sanitary condition at all times.
  • Performs additional Environmental Services duties as assigned to support the needs of the Medical Center.
