Job summary

HydroGeoLogic, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Scientist III based in Billings or Helena, MT to support EPA, Montana DEQ, and USACE environmental projects in the Mountain West region.

Projects involve groundwater and soil remediation for PFAS, chlorinated solvents, and petroleum compounds, including abandoned mine lands. Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's degree, 4+ years of experience, and OSHA HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain it.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, or Environmental Science-related field.
• 4+ years of experience.
• Ability to work in a team environment with corporate, project, and technical management staff.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and organization.
• Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and other MS Office applications.
• Possess or have ability to obtain OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification upon employment.
• Knowledge and experience of CERCLA, DoD, DOE, EPA, and/or RCRA projects.
• Understanding of remediation and construction site health & safety hazards.
• Strong technical writing and documentation experience with remedial design documents.
• Ability to conduct completion inspections and maintain records.
• Working knowledge of federal and state occupational regulations.
• Ability to prepare daily reports documenting activities and findings.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills with stakeholders and leadership.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure field operations are safe and aligned with Site Safety Plans and SOPs.
• Lead field teams for collection of water, soil, and soil vapor samples.
• Assist with remedial system installation and O&M services.
• Oversee field subcontractors including remediation and waste transport.
• Interact with program managers, government customers, and RA Contractors.
• Contribute to work plans and project deliverables (e.g., RI Reports, SSHP/HASPs).
• Provide technical support during investigation, planning, design, and implementation phases.
• Assist with data entry, analysis, and interpretation of environmental data.
• Manage field teams collecting data and remedial system activities.
