HydroGeoLogic, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Scientist III based in Billings, MT or Helena, MT to support EPA, Montana DEQ, and Army Corps projects tackling groundwater and soil contamination.

The role involves field sampling, data analysis, and remediation support across the Mountain West region. The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, or Environmental Science and 4+ years of experience, with strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, or Environmental Science.
• 4+ years of experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and other MS Office applications.
• Possess or have ability to obtain OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification upon employment.
• Knowledge of CERCLA, DoD, DOE, EPA, and/or RCRA projects.
• Strong technical writing and documentation experience.
• Ability to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring field operations are conducted in a safe manner in accordance with project specific Site Safety and Health Plans / Health and Safety Plans, design specifications, and standard operating procedures.
• Managing / leading field teams for collection of water, soil, and soil vapor samples utilizing various sampling techniques.
• Assisting with remedial system installation and operations & maintenance services.
• Performing / conducting field subcontractor oversight inclusive of remediation, waste transportation and disposal, and heavy equipment operation.
• Interfacing with program and project managers, senior technical staff, the government customer, and RA Contractors.
• Contributing to the preparation of work plans and project deliverables (e.g., UFP-QAPPs, RI Reports, SSHP/HASPs, power point presentations, and technical memoranda).
• Provide technical support during investigation, planning, design, implementation, and completion project phases.
• Assisting with data entry, analysis, and interpretation of environmental data using statistical and visualization tools.
• Managing or leading field teams collecting general field data, completing environmental sampling, and managing remedial systems.
• Potential for up to 50% travel within the U.S. (primarily in western U.S.) will be associated with this position.
• Utilize approved digital and AI-assisted tools, where appropriate, to support technical documentation, data analysis, project communications, and workflow efficiency.
