Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Environmental Risk Assessor to support Human Health and Ecological projects within the Environmental Services Group. You will assist with regulatory compliance across federal, state, and local environmental projects in CDM Smith’s portfolio.

You will work with a team of scientists, geologists, engineers, and toxicologists to develop exposure models, conduct HHRAs and SLERAs, and provide technical guidance on investigation and remediation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline with professional scientist registration/certification OR Master's degree in Science or related discipline.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on duties and workload.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Supports site investigations and data interpretation for human health risk assessments (HHRAs) and ecological risk assessments (ERAs).
• Supports data quality objectives (DQOs), QAPPs, and sampling and analysis plans (SAPs).
• Prepares conceptual site exposure models (CSEMs), HHRAs, SLERAs, and BERAs of varying complexity.
• Collaborates with scientists, geologists, engineers, and toxicologists to implement approved project approaches.
• Provides technical evaluation on oversight projects and supports client meetings.
• Mentors junior staff and supports growth within the firm.
• Contributes to proposals in response to RFPs and develops white papers on environmental issues.
