Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Environmental Risk Assessor to help support Human Health and Ecological projects within the Environmental Services Group. The role focuses on regulatory compliance for federal, state, and local environmental projects in CDM Smith’s portfolio.

You will work with a team of scientists to develop QAPPs, DQOs, SAPs and CSEMs while mentoring junior staff and contributing to proposals and white papers. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline with professional scientist registration/certification OR Master's degree in Science or related discipline.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Supports site investigations and analysis for human health risk assessments (HHRAs) and ecological risk assessments (ERAs).
• Develops data quality objectives (DQOs), QA Plans (QAPPs), and sampling/analysis plans (SAPs).
• Assists with planning for conceptual site exposure models (CSEMs) and various HHRAs/BERAs.
• Collaborates with scientists, geologists, engineers, and toxicologists on project approaches.
• Provides technical evaluation on oversight projects and supports client meetings.
• Mentors junior staff and supports sales/proposals.
• Develops white papers on emerging environmental issues.
• Presents at conferences to raise visibility of services.
