Job summary

CDM Smith seeks an Environmental Scientist/Environmental Risk Assessor to support Human Health and Ecological projects within the Environmental Services Group. The role focuses on regulatory compliance for federal, state, and local environmental projects in CDM Smith’s portfolio.

You will contribute to site investigations, develop DQOs, QAPPs, SAPs, and support exposure modeling and risk assessments. Travel and collaboration with clients and staff are expected to deliver high-quality solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline with professional scientist registration/certification OR Master's degree in Science or related discipline.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Travel frequency contingent on duties and workload.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Supports site investigations and analysis for human health risk assessments (HHRAs) and ecological risk assessments (ERAs).
• Supports risk teams and develops data quality objectives (DQOs), QAPPs, and SAPs.
• Assists with planning for CSEMs, HHRAs, SLERAs and BERAs of varying complexity.
• Collaborates with scientists, geologists, engineers, and toxicologists to implement approved project approaches.
• Provides technical evaluation of client documents and supports client meetings.
• Mentors junior staff and supports growth within the discipline.
• Contributes to proposals and RFP responses with sales staff.
