Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks an Environmental Engineer Manager within the Department of Environmental Protection to lead the Surface Permitting Section and guide permitting decisions for oil and gas development. You will supervise staff, provide engineering direction, and ensure regulatory compliance across reviews and program procedures.

This role emphasizes program management, stakeholder coordination, and regulatory analysis to achieve strong environmental outcomes.

Qualifications

• Two years as an Environmental Engineer or an Air Quality Engineer, or
• Five years of professional engineering experience in environmental protection or related field.

Responsibilities

• Staff oversight: direct staff, assign work, review performance, and provide engineering guidance
• Permit oversight: manage permit reviews, ensure regulatory compliance, and standardize practices
• Technical guidance: provide direction on permit requirements and program procedures
• Program management: monitor workload, propose improvements, track progress to goals
• Coordination duties: participate in meetings with agencies, operators, and stakeholders
• Regulatory review: evaluate requests, reports, and inspections to determine actions
