Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection, Northeast Regional Office, Clean Water division, seeks an Environmental Engineer Manager to oversee complex permitting activities, manage a team, and review technical work to protect public health and natural resources.

Qualifications

• Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years as an Environmental Engineer or Five years of professional engineering experience in environmental protection or project development, design or construction.
• Special Requirements: Valid Professional Engineer license issued by PA or another state.
• Conditions of Employment: Valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
• Post Employment Requirement: PA license within six months if out-of-state license.

Responsibilities

• Lead Permits Section: supervise staff, assign work, review tasks, ensure quality engineering evaluations.
• Permit Review: evaluate applications, plans, and documents related to water quality and wastewater systems.
• Effluent Analysis: develop water quality limits using modeling tools and engineering standards.
• Public Process: prepare draft permits, review comments, support hearings, and make recommendations.
• Program Oversight: manage workflow, track permit activities in required systems.
• Technical Coordination: provide guidance to applicants, consultants, and partners.
